An Illinois Travel Guide

Illinois is very diverse state with a ton of great vacation destinations. Many people know of Illinois crown jewel, Chicago, but they do not realize that Illinois has much more to offer a visitor.

Chicago draws millions of visitors a year because of it shopping and nightlife. A trip to Chicago would not be complete with a shopping adventure on Michigan Avenue. Chicago is rich with history which allows for great site seeing. The architecture tour and the Sears Tower traditionally draw the most tourists but a trip to navy pier or one of the many museums should also be put on your itinerary. Chicago has always been known as sports town with some “Super Fans”, so if you can get a ticket, a Cubs or Bears game is more than worth the trip and experience you will not forget. The public transportation in Chicago allows visitors to move easily around the city to see the many sites. Buy a train pass and take some rides provided by the Chicago Transit Authority.

Outside of Chicago, Illinois has many lakes and rivers that offer great fishing and water sports. To the north of Chicago on the Wisconsin border, the many small lakes are a great place to experience the outdoors and located near the Six Flags Amusement Park if you have enough of the outdoors.

Illinois has many great state parks which another great place to enjoy the outdoors. Many of these parks are geared toward outdoor adventures such biking or hiking. A trip to one of them is great for a family get away.
