A Guide to Ohio Travel
Ohio is so diverse that it has something for every traveler. If you visit Ohio, you will not be disappointed by all that Ohio has to offer. Check out some of the wonderful sites and places in Ohio.
The northern side of Ohio borders onto Lake Erie, and with the great Ohio River and many other rivers flowing through the state, water recreation is abundant. The lakes all over the state offer some amazing fish spots. Lake Erie has some of the best walleye fishing in the country. Waterskiing and recreation boating are also popular on Ohio’s many lakes and rivers.
The three Cs—Cincinnati, Cleveland and Columbus—are highly industrialized urban centers, while the family farms and small towns of Middle America offer a contrast to Ohio's big city life. The cities have some great night life and wonderful sites to see. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland is one the cities greatest attractions.
All over the state visitors will discover amusement parks renowned for their bigger than life roller coasters, like Cedar Point in Sandusky North Ohio and Paramount's Kings Island near Cincinnati. Both of these amusement parks are world renowned and assured to show you a good time.
Ohio's innumerable aviation contributions are documented and celebrated in Dayton, home to the United States Air Force Museum, one of the oldest and largest aviation museums in the world. Amish Country in North Ohio is home to the Amish and Mennonites who have shunned modern conveniences to maintain simpler times. Amish country is one of the best places to find furniture. And if you drive through Ohio you will for sure find a horse and buggy riding next to you.
In South Ohio, exotic animals roam free at The Wilds, a 10,000-acre endangered species reserve. Also in the south you will find the wonderful school of Miami University of Ohio, which is one of the nation’s oldest schools and has a great old campus.
With all that Ohio has to offer it is no wonder that in the Iroquois language Ohio means Great. And it is great to visit.
